Food is one of my favorite subjects to photograph. Ever since I owned a digital camera, it has been mandatory for me to take photos of dishes when dining out. Sometimes it can be annoying to my companions because they can't touch the food until I'm satisfied with my shots. Hahah :) I started a food photo blog so I can share my recommendations - the fast and easy way. I already have hundreds of photos and I don't have much time to write extensive reviews for each dish.
INSPIRATION:
• www.foodgawker.com - I got this link from my boss. I love the portfolio style layout!
• www.southbound.ph - My favorite lifestyle blog. Too bad this blog isn't updated anymore :( This is where I got the idea of categorizing each of my posts by place (ex.: "south", "bf-homes", "alabang")
PLAN:
• Decide which platform to use
- Tumblr
• Find a blog theme
- I wanted something similar to Food Gawker so I searched for the best Tumblr Portfolio Themes
• Think of a blog name
- bestfoodinmanila.tumblr.com
CREATE:
• I use my point-and-shoot camera (Canon Powershot) for my food shots and post-process them in Photoshop
• Item descriptions are taken from the restaurant's menu / www.munchpunch.com
• I categorize each post according to cuisine and place so it'll be easier for my followers to navigate my collection of 100+(and counting) photos. I also created a "healthy" tag for those who are craving for delicious food, but are on a diet. :-) (How obsessive-compulsive of me :) )
I was able to display my categories on my blog using this tag cloud generator.
• The Tumblr Mega Editor allows the user to add/edit tags to multiple photos at once. Such a time saver!
