Left: Tracy's Project Life spread • Right: My Color Inspiration
A lot of scrappers were inquiring about how her PL system works...In one of her comments, she said, "No worries, Project Life is easy. You can start doing this anytime and leave it if you feel like not doing it. The project will still be there." Poom! I just need to let go of my perfectionism and not worry if I miss a week!! There are no rules to follow!
I gave it a try and got the same materials that she uses. Local scrapbook stores do not carry Becky Higgins' products so Tracy used baseball card sleeves from Neutral Grounds as alternative. Since it's cheaper to buy the sleeves in bulk, my scrapbooker friend, Shine, bought 2 boxes and split the contents with me, Carmela and Diane. I got too excited about this project that I spent most of my free time looking for Project Life ideas on blogs and Pinterest, dreaming of what my pages will look like, downloading a LOT of free journaling cards from One Velvet Morning and Quality Digiscrap Freebies and sharing links to my new crafty friends!!
I couldn't wait till January 2013 so I started right away... Midyear. September 2012. (there is no right or wrong way of doing Project Life!) :) Here are some "rules" that I set for my project:
Do it monthly instead of weekly.
It's easier to keep up this way...there will be no minimum number of sleeves required. If I get too busy, I can just do one spread for the month. For the dividers, I reused the 2011 personalized calendar that I got from Shai.
Choose a Color Scheme for each month.
I looove Becky Higgins' kits but they're not available in our country yet so I had to improvise and use materials that I have at home. This month's color scheme is based on Me So Scrappy's Tweet Beginnings kit.
Use only one font per month - for a cohesive look.
Chose my top 1 font for my first month!
