I live in a tropical country so it's almost like summer all year 'round here! My family and friends are beach-lovers, they plan out-of-town trips even on non-summer weekends -- which pretty much explains why I have quite a number of beach-themed spreads (this is just Volume 1). I store these spreads in one 12x12" album temporarily named "Travel Highlights", where I feature one trip/place per spread.
Here are some tips, layout ideas, and card suggestions that I'd like to share with you!
1. Take "no people" photos. If you want to take nice photos of the resort that you are staying in, wake up early (around 6:00am), while everyone is still asleep --to avoid "photobombers" ruining your photo. When you look at the samples below, the layout is often a combination of "people" & "no people" photos -->which, I think, is a good formula for making a "clean/uncluttered" spread.
2. Scrap your old vacation photos. On layouts c and d below, I took out photos from our family album (dated 10+ years ago) and quickly made a spread, I didn't need scissors and glue at all because all of my photos are 4x6! I just followed the suggested layout that is printed on most Project Life Core Edition / Value Kit boxes - (one title card on the upper left pocket, 7 4x6" photos and 8 3x4" cards.)
3. Don't forget to bring home memorabilia from the trip such as the hotel bag tag, key card holder, coaster, boarding passes, etc.
4. Take screenshots of your weather app.
5. Print your Instagram / square photos at 2.5x2.5" and adhere them to 3x4" journaling cards.
See layout b and e.
6. Take a photo of your travel souvenir and use it as the "title card". See layout b.
7. Add a Studio Calico geotag to your filler card. See layout c. (Got this idea from Jen Lake)
8. To get things done fast, use only 1-3 kits per spread. Can't decide which kit to use? Check out my suggestions:
a) Heidi Swapp Gold Foil Value Kit

If you want an elegant feel to your spread, use the Gold Foil value kit!
You can also use the star embellishments to rate your stay.
